How quickly the seasons shift, reminding us of the beauty and change each brings! As the vibrant colors of fall begin to paint our landscapes and the crisp autumn air settles in, I reflect on the warmth of summer and our community’s resilience. This season, I am thrilled to celebrate my 31st year as a State Farm Agent. My journey started in 1994 in Escanaba, MI, after a rewarding career as an adult educator for a major electric company in Southeast Wisconsin. In 1995, I relocated to Petoskey, where I was fortunate to meet my amazing wife, Phyllis. For the past 25 years, she has flourished as a dedicated real estate agent in our vibrant community. Originally from Indian River, Phyllis has introduced me to the breathtaking beauty of Burt Lake, Crooked River, and Indian River—especially stunning in fall, when the foliage transforms into a tapestry of reds, oranges, and golds.

Together, we are blessed with five children and nine grandchildren who fill our lives with joy, much like the harvest season’s abundance and the cozy, colorful days of autumn. One of our favorite fall pastimes is exploring the inland waterway, enjoying peaceful boating and fishing as the cooler temperatures and stunning fall reflections create a perfect backdrop. As the days shorten, we also love playing pickleball outdoors—often at the bustling courts in Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix, or Boyne City—and when the crisp fall weather pushes us inside, we head to North Central Michigan College for some indoor play.

What we cherish most about living in Petoskey is the incredible sense of community that thrives here, especially during the fall festival season!
